Letters at the end of the millennium

In its final programme of the old millennium, BBC Radio 4 invited several contemporary writers, artists and commentators to read letters they had written to some of the major Christian figures of the last 2,000 years. We intercepted three of these letters, written to Augustine, Bach and Bunyan, and present them here. They express thanks, criticism and a sense of continuity, linking the Christians of today and tomorrow with those who have kept the faith before us.

Augustine

Rowan Williams writes to St Augustine.

Bach

James MacMillan writes to Johann Sebastian Bach.

Bunyan

Terry Waite writes to John Bunyan.
